The University of Minnesota’s Program in Occupational Therapy offers a Refresher Course in a welcoming, supportive environment designed to meet the needs of therapists who prefer a hands-on, face-to-face learning environment.
Classes are held in the Children’s Rehabilitation Center on the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus.
The 2013 Refresher Course will be held Friday July 19th through Friday July 26th, 2013. The deadline for registration is July 5th, 2013. If course registration fills, interested parties may contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to a waitlist.
This course is designed for therapists who want to:
Overall course objectives are that participants will:
- Gain confidence in knowing the basics of occupational therapy.
- Gain confidence in performing skills needed for occupational therapy interventions.
- Develop a network of resources to further their practice in occupational therapy
(faculty, colleagues, texts, internet).
- Gain confidence in re-entering the workforce or changing an area of practice.
The refresher course offers unique access to:
- Cadaver lab for human musculoskeletal anatomy review
- Human brain lab for neuroanatomy review
- A lending library consisting of current and recommended books relevant to occupational therapy practice
- Many additional program resources.

On Campus Lodging Purchase with the Refresher Course
Lodging is available at Yudof Residence Hall on the East Bank campus of the University, and can be purchased while registering for the 2013 Refresher Course. Yudof is adjacent to the Children's Rehabilitation Center where the refresher course is taking place, and also adjacent to Coffman Union with restaurants, the University Bookstore, and other amenities. Yudof provides two private rooms (bedroom and living room) occupied by 1 resident each, with private entrance, a shared bathroom, and other amenities. Parking can be purchased in addition to lodging for a spot in the adjoining ramp.

Ground Transportation from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport (MSP) to Yudof Hall on the University of Minnesota East Bank Campus
Transportation to and from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is available. Options include taxi, limousine, van and shuttle services, and car rental companies. Public transportation is available through Metro Transit, which provides both Light Rail Transit and public bus service within the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Cancellation by the Program in Occupational Therapy: The Program in Occupational Therapy reserves the right to cancel the course if minimum enrollment is not reached. Registrants will receive a full refund if the refresher course is cancelled. Participants will be notified 1 month prior to the planned start date of the course and a refund in full will be provided.
Cancellation by the learner: A 15% cancellation fee will be retained for administrative costs prior to registration deadline of July 5th, 2013. If cancellation occurs after July 4th, a refund may be withheld at the discretion of the faculty.
In the event that a participant requires assistance in resolving issues, clarifications, and/or complaints pertaining to registration, enrollment, attendance, or payment of course fees, students may email Corey McGee, refresher course coordinator at email@example.com to address the issue. Upon receipt of the participant's input, the coordinator will take the matter for action, seek further information as needed, and respond to the participant within 2 working days.
If these actions fail to prove satisfactory to the participant, they will be referred to the director of the program in occupational therapy. Every attempt within the power of the course coordinator would be made to resolve the issue.
